Malin Kundang

                Once upon a time, there lived a poor happy family that lived in one of beach in Sumatera. They have a son, named Malin Kundang. One day, Malin’s father wanted to go to the city because he want to find a better job and he hope, he will get much money when he came back. But in fact, Malin’s father did not come back. Malin and his mother were so sad.

          Malin being more mature, he wanted to find money for his mother across the country. He thought that across the country, he will get much money and back to the village as a rich man. Malin learnt about voyage from his friends. And then, he felt he should go. At the beginning, Malin’s mother did not allow him to go, but finally Malin got the permission from his mother. So, he went to sail. From one island to another island until one day he met a girl. The girl is a daughter of a rich man. The girl falling in love with Malin but her father did not give her a permission to make a relation with Malin because Malin is a poor man. Because of that, Malin always work hard to get more money. And finally, Malin became a rich man. After that, he got married with the girl. One day, Malin went back to his village. Some villagers heard about this issue, so they told to Malin’s mother. When Malin came, his mother was very happy. His wife asked him, “Is she your Mom?” and then Malin said, ”Of course not, my mom was dead.” Malin’s mother felt sad. Malin did not confess his mother because his mother was using bad clothes and he felt shy with his wife. Malin’s mother approach Malin but he ignore her and he pushed down his mother. Then, Malin’s mother cried. Malin felt bad, so he went away from his village. Malin’s mother prayed to the God to curse him. “Oh God, if he is really my son, please curse him into a stone.” At the moment, came a big storm, Malin, his wife and all of the contents in his ship were drift. And finally, Malin became a stone.
